Success is a Spiritual Thing is a way of describing the way that I work with people. I believe that we are all spiritual beings having a human experience; therefore we are most successful when we are in alignment with our source or our divinity within. Our own internal guidance system is always providing the right answers and showing us the path we should take. The problem is that sometimes as individuals we lose sight of our own inner guidance. Our lives become so busy, noisy and full of distractions that we are unable to plug in for ourselves. The role of a mentor is to redirect a person back to a spiritual practice that lays the foundation for real success. It does not matter the area of life, being connected and balanced spiritually is the core. Let's look at an example:
Success is a Spiritual Thing in Relationships:
I'm doing a lot of work with people in the area of relationships, and one of the main problems I see is a tendency among us that we don't recognize our own roles in the relationships we attract and keep. Relationships give us a perfect opportunity to work on our own baggage. We meet someone, become smitten or fall in love, and the growth begins, appearing as conflict. Here is where the universe gives us the opportunity to grow the most. It is in our most intimate relationships that we get to our most intimate issues. It's the perfect combination. From the person we are attracted to initially, to the way we handle conflict, express affection, run a household all reflect something of who we are. Spiritual wisdom allows us to recognize our experiences as the growth opportunities they are intended to be. It ain't always pretty, but it is always what we need. Without it we take things only at face value, blaming others for our relationship problems, never seeing ourselves in it, or what we might learn.
Thus, we are destined to continue to meet the same circumstances over and over with each partner we have. Our pain turns into anger, blame or apathy. I always say you can't skip a grade in the school of life, so all lessons will be repeated until learned. Working with a mentor or coach helps this process go a lot smoother, shortens the learning curve and gets us to happier, healthier relationships much easier. I named this newsletter Living Life Consciously because I wanted to help people do just that, and actually see and trust their own life and learning process. Helping people to live life consciously is why I do the work I do.
